Principal Message

Dear Beloved Parents and Community Members,

Assalamu Alaikum! It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our official, new and improved, website for the Toledo Islamic Academy. We hope that the website will provide yet another means of effective communication to you and your family for the success of our students.

Beginning our sixteenth year of academic excellence within a healthy, Islamic environment, TIA is truly the place to be. We pride ourselves in our dedicated and highly qualified staff, as well as the generous community that supports us. Toledo Islamic Academy is about excellence, and that is what we work towards, day in and day out. We are committed to meeting the individualized needs of our students, challenging them all the way to develop well-rounded students who succeed in this life and in the hereafter. We actively promote a philosophy of continuous improvement, which can be seen through our academic programs, activities, and events. MORE

TIA Announcements
TIA continues to soar, Alhamdulilah!
Recent recognitions include:

TIA is amongst 115 schools throughout the state of Ohio to be Awarded the Ohio Governor’s Award
for Excellence in Science Youth Opportunities for 2009-2010 (3^rd year in a row! Masha-Allah!)

3 TIA Students were distinguished as AP Scholar and AP Scholar with Honors. These students had to receive scores of 3 or higher on at least 3 AP Exams. The Honors students had to show this success on 4 or more AP Exams.

TIA students are also exceptionally well-rounded – also performing well in athletics. TIA’s athletic program is flourishing as well. Join our teams tomorrow at Winterfield Venture Academy for Cross Country at 8:30 a.m., MS at 10:30, and HS at 12:30. Come support our student athletes. The Middle School students won 34-0 last week! TIA won 3 championships last year – let’s keep the streak going!

TIA After School Open House will occur on Thursday, October 21 from 4:00 – 6:00. Join us as we celebrate all of the wonderful activities occurring in the After School program.

School Profile
The School
Toledo Islamic Academy is a private religious school with over 200 students. We offer students a complete college preparatory program.

Toledo Islamic Academy is accredited by the State of Ohio Department of Education and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement(NCACASI). Currently in our middle and high school we have 75 students who come from the greater Toledo area and surrounding counties. Our students represent a wide spectrum of cultural and economic diversity. Approximately 57% of students receive free or reduced lunch. At TIA, students take
Honors (HR) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in addition to their regular high school courses. Students often co register in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) program at the University of Toledo(UT) or the other local colleges to take transferable college-level courses during the evenings and weekends.

The Faculty

Toledo Islamic Academy has 40 faculty members, giving the school a 15/1 student/faculty ratio. The average class size is 15.

The Class of 2011

There are 7 members of the Class of 2011. One hundred percent of the members of the graduating class have passed all five parts of the Ohio Graduation Test. Due to its small size, the school policy does not endorse class ranking, with the exception of a valedictorian and salutatorian determined at the time of graduation. Eighty-five percent of the class of 2011 passed the OGT on their first attempt.

Community Service

TIA students are required to complete 100 hours of community service/volunteer work during their high school years. Students participate in tutoring, volunteering for the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Cherry St. Mission, Ronald McDonald House, Toledo Food Bank and other charitable organizations. Often staff will participate with students in these volunteer experiences to model the way of service. MORE
